Milwaukee m18 fuel compact cordless air compressor

Milwaukee m18 fuel compact cordless air compressor Review

Milwaukee M Fuel Compact Compressor for Bleeding Heaters

Even on sites with lots of power, we typically bleed them manually. With the Milwaukee M 18 Fuel Compact Quiet Compressor, I can let it do the work for me. It has a compact design and an easy-to-carry handle that makes it a great job site compressor. It was also nice to have a protective roll cage that made it easier to store in the van and move from place to place.

A coworker borrowed the Milwaukee cordless air compressors to pressure test a new sewage line. He used the 2841-20 instead of a manual pump. It worked perfectly much faster, in fact, and required less effort than the old-fashioned way. He further endorsed it because he made it very difficult for me to get it fixed.

Milwaukee Cordless Air Compressor for Pressure Testing

Water pressure in our neck-o the woods is 75 PSI. As a result, we usually pressure test repiping jobs with a compressor at about 150 psi for at least 15 minutes before we start. It ensures us that the pipes are already connected. Of course, that’s a lot more pressure than is actually required for testing, but it gives you some extra peace of mind.

At 135 PSI (pounds per square inch), the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Compressors don’t quite reach our maximum pressure test, but they easily satisfy rough-in PSI requirements. We can achieve 150 psi using our electric pancake compressor, but if a job site doesn’t have power, then Milwaukee serves as a close approximation.

To check for leaks, we hook the pipe to the Milwaukee battery-operated air compressor using a hose with a gauge. The 2-gallons tank was enough to complete this task. Then we pump it up and look for the needle. We typically do this around lunchtime so it has enough time to sit. When we return to the job site, the pressure gauge tells us how much pressure there is inside the tire. If it reads the exact same pressure, we’re done!

Cordless convenience and the ability for you to get work done on-site without any power come with a bit a time tradeoff. It takes the Milwaukee 18 Fuel cordless air compressor just under 90 seconds to fill up its tank. But that’s a lot faster than doing nothing at all.

Using the Milwaukee for Carpentry

Though I am a plumber by trade and I also do plenty of carpenter work. Recently, I remodeled my kitchen into an “awesome factory” (my wife’s term) On some of the trim work, I used the Milwaukee M 18 Fuel Compact Quiet Compressor. With the Milwaukee cordless compressor, I was able to easily drive 2-inch nails into the wood without ever running out of air.

It’s hard to overestimate the convenience of using a truely quiet battery-powered compressor for air compressors. Compared to noisy pancakes, Milwaukee measured a lot less noise output. We measured just 72 dBSPL using a decibel meter If I were a professional carpenter, I’d definitely want this on every trim project, even if I didn’t have access to power tools.
